On the same wavelength – inclusive and active swimming
Best practice of the #TogetherForInclusion campaign
Sport for all is a major topic at REHACARE 2024. With the project "On the same wavelength – active inclusivity", the Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association NRW (BRSNW) and the Swimming Association NRW (SV NRW) are breaking new ground to enable all people to take part in swimming lessons.
Sport for all is a major topic at the REHACARE 2024 Sports Center in Hall 7a. One of the most important partners is the Disabled and Rehabilitation Sports Association NRW (BRSNW), which has launched the inclusive project "On the same wavelength – active inclusion" together with the Swimming Association NRW (SV NRW). Aktion Mensch has also been involved in the funding for two years. The aim is to enable the 1.9 million people with disabilities living in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, in the 2,000 clubs involved in the project to take part in water-based activities.
Swimming lessons for beginners will be opened up to everyone and trainers will be trained. In addition, clubs and swimming schools receive assistance in creating accessible conditions. In order for these to be better perceived, they are to be recognized as inclusion locations. Within the space of two years, 70 instructors have already been trained in inclusive swimming and beginners' swimming at various locations.
