The Exopulse Mollii Suit: Help for people with neurological movement disorders

One of the outstanding innovations that rahm is bringing to REHACARE is the Exopulse Mollii Suit by Ottobock. This unique device aims to help people with neurological movement disorders such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis or the consequences of a stroke, but can also have a positive effect on a wide range of other neurological impairments. The suit consists of a pair of trousers, a top and a control unit that work together to relax up to 40 major muscles through low-frequency electrical stimulation.

The Mollii Suit is particularly valuable for patients suffering from spastic paralysis. Targeted stimulation of the antagonist of a spastic muscle, for example the triceps in a spastic biceps, relaxes the affected muscle, enabling active movement. Thanks to the Exopulse Mollii Suit, rahm customers who suffer from gait instability, balance problems or weak foot lifts have experienced a significant improvement in their situation.

C-Brace: Computer-assisted leg orthosis for greater freedom of movement

Another highlight at the rahm stand will be the C-Brace from Ottobock, a computer-controlled leg orthosis that sets new standards in the care of people with neurological or muscular paralysis. This state-of-the-art orthosis enables wearers to bend their leg under load, negotiate slopes and descend stairs in alternating steps - movements that are often not possible with conventional orthoses. With the help of sensors, the C-Brace measures knee flexion and knee angle acceleration 100 times per second. In the stance and swing leg phase, microprocessors control a hydraulic system in real time, which controls the extension and flexion of the knee.

As part of a study in conjunction with 13 medical centers from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and the USA, 2023 conventional full-leg orthoses were compared with the C-Brace. The study showed that both static and dynamic balance improved significantly with the C-Brace. With the C-Brace orthosis, patients had around 80% fewer falls.

rios® 3D-printed orthoses: Customized support for rhizarthrosis

In addition to technical innovations such as the Mollii Suit and the C-Brace, rahm is also presenting its latest developments in the field of 3D-printed orthoses. In particular, the rios® RhizSpiral, an orthosis for the treatment of rhizarthrosis, i.e. osteoarthritis in the thumb saddle joint, shows how digital orthopaedic technology can revolutionize treatment. This custom-made hand-thumb orthosis uses an innovative spring effect to relieve pressure on the thumb saddle joint and protect the cartilage.

The rios® RhizSpiral is individually adapted to the patient's anatomy using modern scanning and 3D printing technologies and is extremely comfortable to wear thanks to its silicone lining. Studies and user surveys show that this orthosis leads to a significant reduction in pain for many patients after just a short time and considerably improves their quality of life.
